Renewables are entering the mainstream and are proven technologies now. If it was not already reached in some places, grid parity is now around the corner, with the total global renewable power capacity, including hydropower, currently standing at 2,500 GW. The world is now adding more renewable capacity than new fossil fuel generation, and in 2017 renewables accounted for 70 percent of net additions to global generating capacity. The challenge now consists in designing and building cost-effective projects that meet Lenders’ and Investors’ requirements, while offering ever cheaper electricity and helping local communities grow. In addition, storage is really changing the game and enables renewable plants to shift their production profile to meet the grid consumption, and to offer grid support functions.
Our vision is that renewables will become the main energy sources as they are well on their way to becoming the cheapest, the most relevant and the smartest sources of all. They will also be fully integrated with energy markets and national/local grids.
